The National Institute of Fashion Technology-NIFT Bhopal is one of the latest additions to the existing countrywide gamut of NIFT. IT started functioning from June 2008, from its transit campus situated in Bhoj (Open) University, Kolar Road, in the heart of Bhopal city.
The present National Institute of Fashion Technology-NIFT Bhopal is located within 5 KM from Habibganj railway station, 13 KM from Bhopal railway station and 19 KM from Raja Bhoj airport, Bhopal. IT is well connected to every part of the city through city bus and autorikshaws, apart from the student bus of the institute. Security is of prime importance in the institute, which is also a strictly non smoking zone.
The entrance of the National Institute of Fashion Technology-NIFT Bhopal is heavily surrounded by trees and plantations maintained by government authorities, which protect it from the air and noise pollution of the city. The 'Kaliya Sot' dam is located at the rear end of the campus and the Kolar river, a tributary of Narmada, flows alongside the campus. All these together make up the delicate picturesque beauty of the campus. The course being offered at the National Institute of Fashion Technology-NIFT Bhopal at present, include specialization in two disciplines of Bachelor of Design, Textile Design and Accessory Design. The institute boasts of eminent and experienced faculty to facilitate quality education from the very commencement of the center.
The National Institute of Fashion Technology-NIFT Bhopal has successfully established close contact and association with eminent personalities in the field of art and design who offer their inputs as visiting faculty to the students of the center. Due to its location advantage, the center is well networked with the industry for placements, training, workshops and interactions. In short time, the institute has positioned itself as a leader in fashion education in the state through education and by organizing student activities that give them exposure at the national level.The new established library wing consists of various books covering Design, Technology & Management.The wing also subscribes to journals, periodicals and magazines. Slides and CD-ROM and Class Room Lectures are a part of this wing from where visual information and Class Room Lectures can be collected.
The Campus The sprawling and lush green National Institute of Fashion Technology-NIFT Bhopal of the University provides picturesque and pollution free environment. It has beautiful views of the hill side and Kalialsod Dam.Two Blocks – Institutional buildings – accommodate class-rooms, studios, workshops, resource Centre, IT-Lab, Administration, Canteen, etc. fully equipped to provide learning environment to the students.42 girls students of the first year can be accommodated at the Tagore Girls Hostel located at Shyamla Hills (10 kms from the campus). Shyamala Hills is one of the beautiful and posh areas of the Bhopal. State Assembly building, CM Residence, Bharat Bhawan, Ashoka Lake View Hotel, Upper Lake, etc. are at a walking distance. Double occupancy rooms are well equipped with the bed, mattresses, study table, chair, almirah, etc.
National Institute of Fashion Technology-NIFT Bhopal has a visitor’s room, pantry, medical room, 24 hours hot-water facilities. 24 hours lady care-takers, lady warden, Doctor on call and night duty ex-servicemen security are provided. The hostel has recreation room with Dish TV and indoor games. Badminton, Volleyball and basket ball ring, etc. are provided.A 52-seator bus is hired on annual rate contract to provide round the clock, all days including holidays – transportation facilities to the students. Girls hostellers form the Shyamala Hills hostel commutes (8.30 am to 8.30 pm) by the bus. For field trips, industry visits, etc.
The bus facility is also provided . A canteen / mess on the National Institute of Fashion Technology-NIFT Bhopal provide qualitative – hygienic food to all the students. On payment of semester’s mess fees, students are provided breakfast, lunch, dinner, and evening snacks on all the days – including holidays. Girls hostellers are provided with the bus facility to take food (Breakfast to dinner) on the campus. National Institute of Fashion Technology-NIFT Bhopal is vibrant and happening place by lots of celebrations, functions and events round the year. Sports – Indoor and outdoor facilities are also created. Club activities, namely, cultural; sports and adventure; photography; literary; environment and social club activities are regular features. Annual cultural festival – Spectrum and participation in all NIFT Centres sports and cultural festival are also encouraged At the all nift centers sports and cultural annual event-Converge, held at the nift-Hydrabad, in December-08, the students of the center won two gold-medals, one silver-medal and two bronze-medals. Out of 60 first year students, 20 participated in the event and won the medals and created a place in the hearts of the participants from all the centers.
