Overview: Singapore University of Technology and Design is the nation’s 4th University offering a one of its kind curriculum, packed with an interesting design and technology syllabus. It focuses on critical and innovative entrepreneurship and interdisciplinary learning. The university runs and focuses on 4 main areas, namely Architecture and Sustainable Development (ASD), Engineering Product Development (EPD), Engineering Systems and Design (ESD) and Information’s System Technology and Design (ISTD). The interim campus of SUTD is situated at Dover road, an educational hub and is a few Km’s away from Queenstown. The other is at Changi, also known as the East Coast Campus.
Establishment: Singapore University of Technology and Design - SUTD Dover is expected to open doors in April 2012 and is founded by Thomas .L. Magnanti, who is an institute professor at MIT. It mainly focuses on science, technology and design and is in collaboration with MIT and Zhejiang University.
Campus: Both campuses (Dover and Changi) of Singapore University of Technology and Design exhibit brilliance through its infrastructure and state-of-art facilities. The Dover road campus has a beautiful garden upfront called, “Oasis” and is backed up by the design institute. The latter, which is going to be the permanent campus of SUTD, will be ready by 2014. The central plaza of Singapore University of Technology and Design is the meeting point of the learning spine, which in turn connects it to the entire main academic and research buildings. The campus also has recreational and residential facilities for the use of its students. The design for this campus has been awarded an Honour Award for Excellence in Planning- 2011 by Society of College and University Planning.
Faculty: The faculty consists of top notch teachers from Harvard University, University of Montreal, etc. This makes the learning a world class experience and launches a stable career for young minds. Singapore University of Technology and Design is in alliance with MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). It has various professors from MIT as its faculty.
