Jose Protacio Rizal Mercado Y Alonso Realonda was a Filipino Writer and Nationalist. He was born on June 19, 1861 and is considered as the greatest national hero of the Philippines. The ancestors of
Jose Rizal were Japanese and Spanish. He graduated from Ateneo Municipal de
Manila and later studied Ophthalmology at the medical school of Santo Tomas. In addition to medicine he was an artist in Painting, Sketching and Sculpting. He was conversant in twenty two languages and had various degrees of expertise. He was executed on December 30, 1896 and was buried secretly in Paco cemetery in Manila.
