Eastern Council was set up in 1971 by the Govt of India and its headquarters is situated in Tripura. The council comprises the chief ministers and governors of the seven state of North East including
Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura. North Eastern Council is being authorized by
Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, Govt of India. The council is the advisory body to the
Central Government and ponder over any issue that is common among the north eastern states. Its
Aim is to contribute in the economic and social development of the North Eastern Region.
