Magic is free as well as open source software which was developed by the
John Ousterhout during his graduation studies at
Uc Berkeley in 1980. It is a very large scale integration layout tool which fulfils the needs of BSD License. It is very popular because it is free to use and easy to perform specialized tasks. The current version of the software is 7.5 but the previous version 6.x is still very successful. It also includes real-time design rule checking that a VLSI software packages doesn’t have. It uses
