Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) is a private group of non-denominational development agencies. It was founded by Prince Karim Aga Khan IV and seek to improve living conditions and opportunities in sub-Saharan Africa, Central and South Asia and the Middle East. AKDN aims to improve living conditions and create opportunities for the poor without regard to their faith, origin or gender and focuses on health, education, culture, rural development, institution-building and the promotion of economic development. AKDN consists of several organisations namely Aga Khan Academies (AKA), Aga Khan Education Services (AKES), Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED), Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) etc
