Alec Jeffreys is a specialist geneticist of England. He was born in Oxford, Oxfordshire, England on 9 January 1950. He has pursued his studies from Merton College, Oxford. Alec Jeffreys is known for his invention of genetic fingerprinting. He has been awarded several times for his work. Some of his awards include Albert Lasker, Award for Clinical Medical Research which was given to him in the year 2005, Royal Medal awarded by the Royal Society in the year 2004, Great Briton Award, Greatest Briton of 2006.
