Mehriban Arif qizi Aliyeva was born on 26 August 1964 in Baku, Azerbaijan SSR, Soviet Union. She is a member of New Azerbaijan Party and is the wife of Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijani president. She is also a social activist and serves as the head of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Mehriban Aliyeva is a qualified physician and graduated from the Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy in 1988.
