Arthur Joseph Rooney Sr. also known as Art Rooney was the founder and owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers American football franchise in the National Football League. He founded the club in 1933 and led it until his death in 1988. Art Rooney was born on January 27, 1901 in Coulterville, Pennsylvania and died on August 25, 1988 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was famously known as "The Chief".
