Suzanna Arundhati Roy is an Indian author. She was born on 24 November 1961 in Shillong, Assam, India and is also a political activist. Arundhati Roy is popularly known for her novel The God of Small Things. She is also known for her involvement in environmental and human rights causes. She worked various jobs and began her career as an actor and screenplay writer. Arundhati Roy began her writing career in 1992 and some of her notable books include The End of Imagination. Kottayam (1998), Power Politics (2002) and War Talk (2003). Arundhati Roy has been honored with several awards such as Booker Prize (1997), National Film Award (1989) and Sydney Peace Prize (2004).
