Ashfaq Parvez Kayani is a retired Chief of the Army Staff of Pakistan. He served from 29 November 2007 to 29 November 2013. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani was born on 20 April 1952 in Gujar Khan Tehsil, Punjab, Pakistan. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani pursued his education from Pakistan Military Academy, Command and Staff College, US Army Command and General Staff College and National Defence University. He was active in many wars and battles including Indo-Pakistani war of 1971, Bangladesh War of Liberation, India-Pakistan standoff in 2002, War in North-West Pakistan and India Pakistan standoff in 2008. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani also rendered his services as the Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence from October 2004 to October 2007.
