General Bikram Singh was appointed as Chief of The Army Staff (CoAS on 31 May 2012. He joined the Indian Army in 1972 and is the 27th CoAS of Indian Army. General Bikram Singh has served at many key positions in the Indian Army such as GOC 15 Corps, GOC Rastriya Rifles and GOC of Eastern Division in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is the second Sikh to serve at CoAS position and has been honored with many awards such as Param Vishisht, Seva Medal and Uttam Yudh Seva Medal.
