USS Essex (CV/CVA/CVS-9) was a war ship built for the United States Navy during World War II. It was built by Newport News Shipbuilding and was launched on 31 July 1942. USS Essex offered its services in World War II, Korean War, Nautilus incident, Apollo missions etc. USS Essex was awarded with the Navy Unit Commendation, World War II Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, United Nations Service Medal etc. In 1969 USS Essex was decommissioned by US government.
