Ambala College of Engineering and Applied Research-ACE is established in 2002. The Ambala College of Engineering and Applied Research- ACE is located at Devsthali, near Mithapur, 11 Km from Ambala Cantt, on the Ambala-Jagadhari Highway and is well-connected to the major cities in the region. The campus is spread over an area of more than 27 acres in a quiet peaceful and pollution-free environment. This college is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. Besides the Instructional buildings, the campus is well developed with Director's Residence ,Guest House, 38 Faculty Residencies, Girl’s and Boy's Hostels, Playgrounds etc.
The Hostels of Ambala College of Engineering and Applied Research-ACE are designed with a capacity of 204 boys and 86 girls residents. Every floor has clean toilets with hot water facility in winters. There are two hostels for boys with 50 triple seated rooms and 54 single seated rooms and two for girls with 20 triple seated rooms and 26 single seated rooms.The mess is within the hostel along with a canteen on campus. There are common rooms for recreation and a play ground along with a gymnasium. Guestrooms are available in the hostel for visitors. On campus first aid and medical care is also available. Provision of more hostel accommodation is on the cards.
Ambala College of Engineering and Applied Research-ACE has six Air-conditioned computer labs, in addition to a centralized computer centre and an IBM Linux Resource Center. The labs are equipped with more than 200 state-of-the-art thin clients and stand-alone computers. These thin clients are elegantly designed, compact, and virus proof. The labs provide ample work space and 24 hours internet facility free of cost. The systems are on LAN and have Linux Operating System (OS) which is one of the most widely used OS in the world. The computer to student ratio is 1:4. The Department is focusing on three major R&D thrust areas besides the regular Under Graduate Program, namely, Intra-campus Wireless Communication System, Semi-conductor Device Fabrication and Simulation, and Microprocessor Based Industrial Automation and Design. Semiconductor Fabrication Lab and Microprocessor Lab have already been commissioned. Most of the equipment in both these labs have been developed in-house with completely indigenous technology. These labs provide hands-on exposure to the undergraduate students besides the normal curriculum. No wonder most of the equipment for the Biotech lab and the Semiconductor labs have been fabricated in the Mechanical Workshop.
The computerized Library at Ambala College of Engineering and Applied Research-ACE is well equipped and constantly expanding. It is housed in a 12,000 square feet facility with a mezzanine floor. Sh. H. K. Das Memorial Reading Room is attached to the library. It is air conditioned and has separate closed cabins for group discussions. The annual budget for library is Rs. 20 lakhs per year which has resulted in a collection of more than 10,000 books in less than 4 years. It has additional library facilities both in the girls' and boys' hostels. The library remains open even after college hours for the convenience of the students. Two separate Conference Halls with seating capacity of 200 each have been developed in the college campus. The Halls are equipped with LCD projection system along with a large number of educational CD's, Video Cassettes etc. They are maintained and run by the students, where weekly seminars are also being conducted by them.
Ambala College of Engineering and Applied Research-ACE offers four year undergraduate courses leading to B.Tech. Degree in four branches of Engineering such as Biotechnology Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and two years postgraduate courses leading to M.Tech Degree in two branches such as Biotechnology, Electronics & Communication Engineering.
