BMS College for Women - BMSCW Bangalore is an offshoot of B.M.S. Educational Trust. It is one of the prestigious institutions located in the south of Bangalore city. The college was established by late Sri. B.S. Narayan, son of Dharma Prakasha Rajakarya Prasaktha, Sri. B.M. Sreenivasaiah under the B.M.S Educational Trust in 1964, to cater to the educational needs of ‘Women’. A strict disciplinarian, a mentor and a guide late Sri. B.M. Krishnan, I.A.S., was the founder Principal.
BMS College for Women - BMSCW Bangalore initially started with 34 students at the Pre University level. In 1966, B.A and B.Sc degree courses were introduced. In succeeding years, depending on the needs of the society, B.Com and B.B.M. courses were also introduced. Later in 1986 and 1987, new combinations with Electronics, Computer Science and Microbiology were added at degree level. During 1990 – 1991, BMS College for Women - BMSCW Bangalore celebrated its Silver Jubilee and honored meritorious students. In 1995, vocational courses in Biotechnology and Insurance were added taking the assistance from UGC. In 1999, BCA with the semester system was introduced. In all, 16 programmes are provided at the undergraduate level and the students are free to choose any programme of their choice. BMS College for Women - BMSCW Bangalore has grown in quality and quantity over the years. In a span of four decades, the students' strength has increased one hundred times from a small strength of 34 during 1964 to strength of over 3000 students at present.

BMS College for Women - BMSCW Bangalore library is housed on the First floor in a spacious block right above the administrative block, with a separate reading room and a reference section. There are more than 35,000 books, nearly forty four magazines and thirty three journals are available for students to browse through. There is also a facility for providing books to SC / ST students by the Bangalore University. BMS College for Women - BMSCW Bangalore is a member of the British Council Library and is eligible to borrow books, video tapes etc., which can help the students enrich their knowledge. Internet facility is also available under the aegis of Net work Resource Centre (UGC). The library is open from 9.30 A.M. to 5.30 P.M. from Monday to Friday and 9.30 A.M. to 1.30 P.M. on Saturdays except on government holidays.
BMS College for Women - BMSCW Bangalore boasts of not one but two auditoriums. The smaller auditorium facing the cafeteria has a seating capacity of 500 which is available for smaller gatherings. The larger auditorium situated at the entrance of the college has a seating capacity of 3000.Since both the auditorium are open air, shamiyana is erected on requirement. The seminar hall which has a seating capacity of more than 100 people. It is named after our founder late Sri.B.S.Narayan.
BMS College for Women - BMSCW Bangalore office, library and computer science department stay connected to the happenings of the world, thanks to the internet. This facility is made available free of cost to the students and the staff of BMSCW. The 'Pay and Phone' booth on the campus has been provided to prevent mobile menace. The booth is managed by a visually impaired person. The Health Center adjacent to the Board room is used by the students and the staff. In case of emergency, services of the BMS hospital located opposite to the BMS Engineering College are used. Transport facility is also available to transfer patients from the college to the hospital.

Allahabad Bank is the main Banker. During the time of admission/payment of examination fees, special counters are set up in the college premises to facilitate the students. BMSCW book shop supplies text books, records, notebooks and all other stationery needs.

The spacious college ground is used regularly for the practice sessions and regular matches. Occasionally the neighboring Engineering college ground is also made use of. “Sound mind in a Sound body” is the main motto of BMS College for Women - BMSCW Bangalore, which believes in inculcating the physical fitness of a student along with mental ability to face the challenges of life. The gym is well equipped with modern gadgets like treadmill, bicycle etc which are available both for the students and the staff.
