College of the North Atlantic - Corner Brook is the public college of the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The enabling legislation is the College Act. The headquarters for College of the North Atlantic and the Bay St. George campus are located in Stephenville, on the west coast of the island portion of Newfoundland and Labrador. They are Newfoundland and Labrador’s public college – one of the largest post-secondary educational and skills training centres in Atlantic Canada, with a history dating back more than 40 years. Today they have 17 campus locations throughout Newfoundland and Labrador and one in the Middle East State of Qatar.
College of the North Atlantic - Corner Brook campus of College of the North Atlantic is located on the west coast of Newfoundland. Corner Brook, a city of approximately 20,000, provides all the usual amenities of a regional centre, while maintaining a small town atmosphere. Set in a beautiful natural environment, it affords outstanding opportunities for field work as well as a variety of outdoor recreation year round.
Full-time credit course registration is approximately 700 students per semester, with another 100 registered part-time. Upwards of 1,200 students participate in Continuing Education evening courses. There are numerous services and resources available to enhance student life, including guidance counsellors, a Student Success Centre, an active Student Representative Council, an extensive library, and more. College of the North Atlantic - Corner Brook campus also houses the Department of Forestry and Agrifoods, the Geospatial Research Facility for Terrestrial Ecosystems, and the Fisher Children's Centre.
The library is a quiet place where you can come to study, research via print and electronically available resources, get help putting together a resume, or just read a newspaper. Library services are available for students and staff along with the general public. College of the North Atlantic - Corner Brook Campus Library is situated opposite the front door of the building. Facilities include group and individual study seating, computer access, coin-operated photocopying, and a small audiovisual room. The mission of Library Services of College of the North Atlantic is to provide the College Community and, whenever possible, the general public with access to quality library services; to develop library collections that support and complement the curriculum; to establish library environments in which users can effectively engage in individual research and study; and to empower College students with the knowledge and skills necessary for independent, lifelong learning.
