Hindu Girls College - Sonepat was started in 1956 with only 35 students in Chetan Das Dharamshala. In the year 1963, the girl’s wing was shifted to the present campus near the railway station. In 1982, it gained an independent identity; Hindu Girls College - Sonepat is one the premier educational institute in the area. Hindu Girls College - Sonepat is run by Hindu Charitable and Education Society, Sonepat. Respected late Babu Jai Kishan Aggarwal ji, Late Babu Sant Lalji, Late Sh. Gyan Prakash ji, Late Ch. Rizk Ramji devoted their lives for the growth of the institution. Moreover, Late Babu Dwarkanthji, Late Sh. Dhani Ramji, and many other eminent people have supported in the development of the Hindu Girls College - Sonepat. Therefore Sh. Ram Kumar Mittalji, Shri Sh. Bhagwan Gupt, Sh. Arun Aggarwal, Sh. Pawan Kumar Mittal have done yeoman's service to the college making it as strong as banyan tree. Under their guidance the college is reaching great heights.
Hindu Girls College - Sonepat has been steered by the efficient and experienced Principals. Late Goverdhan Lalji Malhotra was the founder Principal. In 1983-84, Sh. Shiv Kumar Khandelwal gave a new picture to Hindu Girls College - Sonepat. Under the leadership of Sh. K.C Kaushik from 1984-88, the college headed forward. During the tenure of Mrs. Promila Sagar, M.A. Sanskrit and M.A. Economics started. Hindu Girls College - Sonepat felt proud under the guidance of Mrs. Veena Luthra in 1988-89 and 1998-99 Sh. R.S Jindal gave strong support to the college. Dr. Shamim Sharma devoted two years for the development of Hindu Girls College - Sonepat. And devoted two years for the leadership of Dr. Lajja Goyal, the institution has achieved the present status.

This gives an opportunity to students to express themselves and improve their writing skill. The magazine has won codes from distinguished critics for its literary contents and artistic layout by eminent educationists like Dr. Sukhadeo Thorat Chairman UGC, Dr. Ram Darsh Mishra, Dr. Udai Bhanu Hans, Dr. Mahip Singh and many others. Hindu Girls College - Sonepat magazine PANKAJ was declared best magazine among Haryana colleges by HEC Sh. Dhanpat Singh (IAS). Chief Editor Sh. O.K. Pruthi and his team of experienced teachers and others have achieved this milestone by putting their best endeavor.
In 2007-08 in zonal Youth Festival, Hindu Girls College - Sonepat won a total of 27 prizes including 12 Ist prizes, eight 2nd prizes and seven 3rd prizes. Shikha and Swati won the coveted trophy and individual prize in Hindi poem and Sanskrit Shalokacharan in Inter College competition at Karnal. Harmeet Kaur's essay was selected by State Science Essay Writing Competition. Rachna and Ekta won the trophy and Ist & 2nd prize in a declamation contest on the occasion of Chhotu Ram Jyanti, vidyanand got 2nd prize in poster making and 3rd prize in painting competition at Rohtak. 24 students were awarded Roll of Honor.Hindu Girls College - Sonepat provides Diploma, Bachelor Degree and Master Degree to the college students.
Hindu Girls College - Sonepat has a Placement Cell to enable the students to make better, more informed and creative career choices. The cell actively interacts with industrial units in and around Sonepat and Delhi. Hindu Girls College - Sonepat Faculty of Business Studies (Running 3 years BBA Programme) is also a member of Sonepat Management Association. It provides scope for close interaction between academics and industry and opportunities for students Summer Internship in reputed concerns and firms. The cell tries to get all the students absorbed. Ten students of Hindu Girls College - Sonepat were placed through campus recruitment in Apex Pharma in session 2007-08.
