Overview
Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) is the government organisation that helps and supports the communities in emergencies like natural disasters, floods and others. Victoria SES has around 5,000 volunteers managing the operational and administrative roles of the organization in the United States. The training is also provided for the volunteers to tackle with different situations in the case of emergencies. It has headquarters in Southbank, Victoria and has many regional offices at different locations.
History
The organisation started its journey in the year 1950 as Victoria Civil Defence Organisation and the Victoria State Emergency Service
Act was approved in late 1981. Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) was set up as the independent Statutory Authority on 1 November 2005 and is also responsible to provide the support for other emergency services.
Emergency Management
Victoria State Emergency Service (SES) is the organisation that makes plans to manage resource to save people in the emergencies such as flood, thunderstorm, tsunami and natural hazards. Its major operations includes, Flood response, Storm response, Tsunami response and Earthquake response. The road rescue service is also available in Victoria and also operates a network of above 100 SES units to provide road rescue through volunteers with specialized vehicles and equipment.
