Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore was set up in June 1, 1971. It was affiliated to Madras University in 1920. TNAU Coimbatore has assumed full responsibilities of Agricultural Education and Research. TNAU supports the State Agricultural Department by delivering research products. It was recognized as a Post-graduate Centre leading to Master’s and Doctoral degrees in 1958. TNAU, Coimbatore is one of the institutes in India, which is highly accredited and top ranking farm school in southern peninsular India. The Institute has undergone rapid strides in agricultural education and research. TNAU has become the premier in the field of agricultural sciences. In 1868, it was first established as an Agricultural School at Chennai (Madras) and later relocated to Coimbatore as Agricultural College and Research Institute, in 1906. TNAU, Coimbatore has the Directorate of Students Welfare. It serves as a hub of students’ guidance, counseling and placement activities for all its constituent colleges. TNAU Directorate of Students help graduate Students to get placement in nationalized banks, leading seed companies, agro-based industries, multinational companies, NGO’s etc. TNAU provides facility to students to pursue their higher education in India as well as abroad by conducting coaching classes, motivation lectures, mock group discussions, and interview simulations. The basic objective behind providing the Communication facility is students who opt for agriculture as their profession primarily addresses from rural background. The communication lab was established in 2007 with an objective of sharpening the communicative and soft skills of the students to fulfill the needs and wants of the employers.
