Air Malawi Limited was the national airline of Malawi. Based in Blantyre, it was founded in March 1964. Air Malawias bagan operations as a subsidiary of Central African Airways in 1964. The airline served several destinations in Malawi, Tanzania, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Air Malawi fleet consisted of ATR 42-320 and Boeing 737-200 aircraft. Air Malawi was placed in voluntary liquidation in November 2012, because of its financial situation. The airline ceased its operations in February 2013.
