Alice Louise Waters was born on April 28, 1944 in Chatham Borough, New Jersey, U.S. She is a chef, activist and author. Alice Waters is also the owner of a restaurant, Chez Panisse. She is popularly known as mother of American food and has been a strong supporter of organic food movement. Alice Waters has authored many books which include Chez Panisse Pasta, Pizza, Calzone (1984), Chez Panisse Vegetables (1995), The Art of Simple Food (2007) and The Edible Schoolyard (2008). Alice Waters has also been honored with many awards such as Best Chef in America (1992), James Beard Humanitarian Award (1997) and Rachel Carson Award Honoree.
