Apeejay Institute of Design - Delhi was set up in September 1992, housed in its aesthetically designed building ideally suited for creative activities.It is situated in Tughlakabad Institutional Area in New Delhi.
Apeejay Institute of Design - Delhi building is a very well designed one and also turns out to be a very good example of optimum space utilization. The building has 4 stories and one level basement which house a number of studios and computer labs apart from the class rooms and a amphitheatre. The moment one enters the Institute one gets the feel of design. The essence of creativity flows through the environment. The aesthetically well-designed and spacious building of the Institute is itself an insight into the high education standards.
Apeejay Institute of Design - Delhi offers Bachelors in Design course in different areas of specialization, a Bachelor in Multimedia, a Bachelor in Fine Arts and a Post Graduate Diploma Course. The Institute is affiliated with Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and the degrees are awarded by the same. It is an effort to tap genuine talent in the area of Design, implement its beliefs and philosophy and mould them into complete institutions, to take on the challenges of creating a good and healthy atmosphere for living, taking the entire human race to a common understanding and demolishing all the communication barriers.
Apeejay Institute of Design - Delhi has Cultural, Sports, Photography and Literary Clubs which organize activities and student Competitions throughout the year. The Cultural Club, besides organizing functions like the Orientation Programme, Farewell Party, and Fresher’s Party and so on, organizes Student Competitions in Rangoli, Dance, Skit, Kite Making and Singing. The Sports Club conducts activities in indoor games like Table Tennis and Carrom and organizes sports competitions and fun games. Photography being an important aspect in the curriculum, many competitions are organized at amateur and skill level in outdoor and indoor photography. The literary Club presents a platform for students to speak and debate on various current issues relevant to the student community and society at large. This year the Club is to launch the News Magazine of the Institute also.
Apeejay Institute of Design - Delhi has made it a practice to organise INDUSTRY INSTITUTION INTERACTION throughout the year with a view to further enrich its curriculum, provide an opportunity for the students to interact with Professionals and visit various commercial establishments to collect first hand information. This is done through Field Visits, Guest lectures and Workshops.
The normal schedule of
Apeejay Institute of Design - Delhi is to organise any one such activity on each Friday. Some Guest Speakers who had addressed the students in the last session are Mr. Suneet Paul, Editor A+D, Dr. Deepti Gupta, a Professor from IIT, Mr. Manojit lahiri, Copy Writer and Sub-Editor of Dash Magazine. Field Visits conducted to various commercial establishments in the Industry pertaining to each specialization like for Printing and Packaging such as International Print-O-Pack, Thomson Press, live construction sites and complexes at Gurgaon and Greater NOIDA, Hosiery Mill, Embroidery Units and Fabrication Centres at Agra, Gurgaon and Panipat. Similarly Workshops are conducted by Professionals from the Industry with a view to further improve the skills of the students besides giving the exposure to Professional work. Workshops were conducted on "Portrait and Fashion Photography", "Table Top Photography", "Outdoor Photography", "Ideas in Fiber and Textile and "Fabrication of Coffee Tables".
Apeejay Institute of Design - Delhi has been training good number of students each year who have successfully proved their worth in the Industry and have earned a name for their Institute and themselves. International Placements: 1) Surbhi Khandelwal of Interior Design department is now working as Trainee with Timber Land Store at Milano, Italy. 2) Ambika Zutshi of Fashion Design department is now working with Zoneone International at Shanghai, China. 3) Nisayuru Basnayaka of the Graphic Department is placed with Triad Advertising in Colombo, Sri Lanka. 4) Divya Handa of Interior Department is placed with Capital Interiors Design in Dubai, UAE.
