The Bhopal School of Social Sciences-BSSS was envisioned and established in 1972 by the founding chairman of the college, the then Archbishop of Bhopal Dr. Eugene D'souza, in response to the felt need of the time for a broad based, job oriented curriculum with focus on social service and entrepreneurship. Over the course of the past 37 years, Bhopal School of Social Sciences-BSSS has evolved into one of the premier educational institutes of Madhya Pradesh shaping the educational landscape of the state.
The Bhopal School of Social Sciences-BSSS is situated on the fringe of the BHEL Township, half a kilometer from the Habibganj Railway station. The strategic location makes it easily accessible from the BHEL Township, city as well as the University. Bhopal School of Social Sciences-BSSS has a spacious campus of 20 acres, which provides an ideal atmosphere for teaching and learning.
Bhopal School of Social Sciences-BSSS is initially known for its Social Sciences and Management courses, which were indeed a novelty in the 70s and 80s, it grew and diversified to meet the changing needs of time and education, with the introduction of courses in Commerce, Information Technology and Physical Education. The Undergraduate programmes were further developed with the addition of Post Graduate courses in Social Work, English Literature, Commerce and Business Administration.
The Bhopal School of Social Sciences-BSSS offers an International MBA through collaboration with Assumption University, Bangkok in keeping with our sensitivity to global needs. This is a twinning programme where students do part of their studies at Bhopal School of Social Sciences-BSSS and go on to complete the programme at The Assumption University. In the present academic year 2009 – 2010, the college has introduced two vocational programmes namely M.P.Ed and B.Ed whereas LLB is in the final stage of approval.
All through the process of its diversification and expansion, the Bhopal School of Social Sciences-BSSS never lost sight of the vision of its forefathers and continued to be guided by the spirit of the ideology with which the institute was established - building up a student community which is able to take bold initiatives, capable of purposeful and critical thinking, sensitive to the socio-economic needs of our country, that will step out into society and play its rightful role in contributing Towards a Better World .

Bhopal School of Social Sciences-BSSS were assessed by NAAC for accreditation. In order to aid our training system, our College has a library with a vast collection of books, journals, periodicals etc. The Bhopal School of Social Sciences-BSSS library is housed in a separate hall which is spacious, and has a user convenient design. This facility has been given special attention and thrust this year with the introduction of a formal Degree Course in Physical Education. The Campus has geared up to provide extensive sports ground for field and track events, football and cricket as well as a basketball and Volly Ball Court and for indoors there are gym and Table Tennis Facilities.
Bhopal School of Social Sciences-BSSS has had impressive individual and team performances at the University, Zonal and National levels and we now hope to improve upon them. We at Bhopal School of Social Sciences-BSSS have taken the initiative to bridge the gap between student preparedness for the job market and the needs of various work sectors by playing a proactive role in the process of campus recruitment. Through our intensive campus drives our students are brought face to face with top companies in the job sector. The process also allows them to test their skills and assess their potentialities so that they can undertake the necessary training to fine tune themselves to meet job requirements.
In order to open up new vistas for Bhopal School of Social Sciences-BSSS students, the placement cell organized the first campus interview in the month of September. Well known companies like Infosys and IBM Daksh conducted presentations, group discussions, written exams and personal interviews with the students of the final year. We at BSSS have taken the initiative to bridge the gap between student preparedness for the job market and the needs of various work sectors by playing a proactive role in the process of campus recruitment.
