CLT Airport, also known as Charlotte Douglas International Airport, is an air transport hub located in Charlotte in the State of North Carolina. It is a public airport which is used for both civil and military operations. The airport is owned and operated by the City of Charlotte and the Charlotte Aviation Department respectively.

Progress Administration gave a grant of $200,000 to Charlotte to build a first municipal airport in the city. In 1936, the airport was constructed and opened under the name Charlotte Municipal Airport. The America's major airline Eastern Air Lines became the first company to start air transport services at the airport. In 1954, a new passenger terminal with an area of 70,000-square-foot was opened at the airport, following which its name was changed to the Douglas Municipal Airport. The new name was adopted to honor the mayor of Charlotte Ben Elbert Douglas, Sr. The airport has an aviation museum named Carolinas Aviation Museum which contains a collection of more than 50 aircraft and it was built in 1992. In 2003, the airport expanded its main ticketing hall and added 13 counters in it for delivering hassle free and easy services to the passengers.
