Chinmaya Arts and Science College for Women – Kannur mission founded by H.H. Swami Chinmayananda in 1951, is the nucleus of a mighty global movement of spiritual renaissance encompassing a wide range of spiritual educational and charitable activities. Chinmaya Arts and Science College for Women – Kannur started functioning from September 3rd 2003. The college presently offers Degree Course in BBm, BCA, B.Sc Biotechnology. The college also proposes to start B.Sc Biochemistry course in the academic year 2006-2007. The college has a highly qualified team of faculty members for the various courses it offers under the able guidance of the Principal. Our sister Institutes Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Chinmaya Institute of Technology are also functioning in the same campus. Chinmaya Arts and Science College for Women – Kannur has set up a well-equipped air conditioned library. Library with around 6000 books for Computers, Management, Science and General Reading. Photocopying facilities are available in the library for faculty and students. The books are being bar coded and soon automated issue and return of books system would be implemented. The library is in the advanced stage of purchasing a V-craddle Planetary scanner for automated scanning of bound volumes as well as broad-sheet newspaper scanner machines. All the computers in computer lab has popular bibliographical software EndNote installed and the faculty periodically organizes training programs on its usage.
Chinmaya Arts and Science College for Women – Kannur Well Equipped Computer Lab running in Linux and Windows 2003 Server with high-end processors. Computer laboratory, apart from providing facilities for training in computer applications, caters to the academic needs of faculty, staff and students. It is fully equipped with latest softwares and has fast internet connectivity allowing users to access Science Direct and other online journals.
Third Annual Camp of NSS unit was held in Chinmaya Arts and Science College for Women – Kannur from 18th to 24th Dec under the leadership of Mrs. Sudha Vinod (Programme Officer) and with the full support of Principal Prof. Shyamala Ravindran. Inaugurated on 18th Dec at 2pm. with Prof . Shyamala Ravindran's presidential address. Edakkad Block panchayath President Sri. Nelliyat Raghavan inaugurated the camp. and Felicitations Sri Abdul Rahman , Sri . P. Sasidharan, Sri . C.K Ashok Varma & Sri . K.K Rajan( Chief Sevak, CMECT). Chinmaya Arts and Science College for Women – Kannur provide placement support for all the courses and also encourages students to participate in Job Fairs conducted in and around the District. We are proud to announce some of our BCA and BBM students are well placed in MNCs like Wipro, infosys, iGate, Accenture etc.
