DM College of Science – Imphal the only Cadre A -Science college in the State came into being in the year 1975 with the birfucation of the parent Dhanamanjari College (estd.1946) that continued to florished and enjoy the namtional status, a rare ans eviable honour achieve by a degree collage in the nort east part of the country. As the history goes by, DM College of Science – Imphal was establish after a protracted but a determined effort since about 1939-40 on the part of a group of local esthusiasts with virson and strong desire, love and zeal for imparting higher and quality education in their own State.
Notable among them was Maharani Dhanamanjari Devi who generously donated and substantail among a rupees ten thousand that worths a king's ransom by that time and also persuaded Maharaj Churchand Singh ,KCSI, CBE, to patronise the establishment of such an instutition, the first of its kinds in the state. The name of the college as Dhanamanjari College was rightly given after the Maharani in recognition of the valuable service rendered by her. In 1948 the college came under the management of the state. DM College of Science – Imphal offers different kind of undergraduate courses.
DM College of Science – Imphal is situated at P. O. Imphal, Manipur. DM College of Science – Imphal has a well-stocked library of the bonafide students in different academic disciplines. Students of the Codllege can avail of the facilities as per library rules issued separately. The New Boys’ Hostel is the only hostel for this College. This hostel can accommodate 100 students. As the accommodation is very much limited, many students from the far away places stay out of necessity in the rented house around the College campus. There is acute necessity of some more boys’ hostels. The problem for accommodation of the girl students is more serious as the D.M. College of Science as it does not have any girls’ hostel of its own. At present the G.P Women’s hostel which is located within the campus of DM College of Science – Imphal , provides accommodation to 30 girl students. At least one hostel for the girls is an absolute necessity.
At DM College of Science – Imphal Facilities available to the students: Hostel, Mess, Mid - day Meals Scheme, Parking areas, Library, Post Office, Play Grounds, Canteen, Laboratories, Computers, Internet & Intranet Purified Drinking Water, English Coaching for weaker students, Boys' common room, Girls' common room, Scholarships. There is provision for NCC (Air and Infantry) and NSS (Unit I & Unit II) in the college to train boys and girls.
