Gossner College – Ranchi was established in November, 1971 by our Founder Principal Rt. Reverend Dr. Nirmal Minz. Gossner College is a Minority College and is managed by Gossner Evangelical Lutheran Church (GELC) of Chotanagpur and Assam. Gossner College – Ranchi mission is to provide the vista of university education to the deserving students coming from socially, economically backward and underprivileged communities of this region, particularly the Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes and other Backward Communities. Preference is given to students from these communities. However, since the college is situated in the heart of Ranchi (Jharkhand, India), students of other communities and regions may also apply. Other than conventional courses Gossner College – Ranchi with the approval of the UGC/HRD and Ranchi University offers Vocational Courses such as: - i) B.Sc. Computer (Hons.) ii)Information Technology iii)Bio-Technology iv)B.B.A.
Gossner College – Ranchi is located at Club Road, Ranchi, Jharkhand. The college campus comprises of aesthetic architecture, permanent structures confined to respective activities - the Academic buildings, Labs, Library, Auditorium, Hostels, Canteen, Playgrounds, and Pond etc. We have library with reading room, which can accommodate adequate students. Gossner College – Ranchi library adequately equipped with books covering wide range of disciplines of academic and non-academic interest. Hostel facility offered by the college is limited, therefore, students not living with their Parents / Natural guardians are advised to make their own arrangement.
To integrate Information System Technology into the present curriculum, Gossner College – Ranchi has broadband Internet connectivity through 256 KBPS Internet line connecting its students to the world and beyond. The faculty and the students are encouraged and allowed to surf the net free of cost. College lab has 25 Desktop Computers in its lab for students to avail its facility. The Internet facility available to the students, gives them unlimited free access to various academic resources available on the net.
All Assembly hours and important college functions are conducted in the large quadrangle, which can accommodate over 1,500 students. The sports and games facilities at the campus make the students attain physical growth and sportsman spirit. Gossner College – Ranchi has separate courts for major games like football, volleyball and hockey. Intra-college and inter-college matches and sports day give the students ample opportunity to develop their talents and skills. Apart from studies we also promote the sports culture in the College. Gossner College – Ranchi has to its credit students who have represented at the District/State/Zonal/National and International level in various events, notable amongst them are Sumrai Tete (Captain) Women's Team India-Hockey, Bimal Lakra, Team India-Hockey and Mahendra Singh Dhoni Team India-Cricket.
Gossner College – Ranchi provides a healthy environment in the canteen and makes sure that quality food is served at reasonable price. It helps the students refresh themselves with snacks in order to keep them always alive and active. Ample space has been provided for parking two wheelers and four wheelers with good security. Four wheelers are not allowed for students. Besides, there is one distinguishing pond full of lotus flowers, which adds some lush to the elegance of the college. It is lined with palm trees and is locally known as "Khajur Talab", and is also a major landmark of Ranchi.
