Two Colleges i.e., Jaisoorya College and Potti Sree Ramulu College were started in 1967 by Private Managements and subsequently were taken over by the Government in 1972 merging later in 1979. It was named as Dr jaisoorya Potti Sree Ramulu Government Homoeopathic Medical College. Earlier Diploma course was conducted from 1967 to 1978 under the Board of Indian Medicines & Homoeopathy. In 1979, the degree i.e., M.B.S (Homoeo.) started and affiliated to the Osmania University. From 1987-1988 onwards the college is affiliated to the A.P University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada. The post graduate courses in Homoeopathy were started in the year 1999. Now this institute is under the administrative control of Commissioner, Dept. of AYUSH, Government of Andhra Pradesh.
Besides departmental libraries, the Dr jaisoorya Potti Sree Ramulu Government Homoeopathic Medical College-JSPS Govt Homoeopathic Medical college has a central library which has more than 11000 books. Students and staff regularly utilise this facility. P.G. students have their own departmental libraries in the faculty. 80 Bedded hospital in the college premises with IPD and OPD facilities . IPD caters to the needs of patients with different kinds of illness both acute and chronic cases. Hospital is fully equipped with latest ultra modern investigating apparatus like X-Ray, Ultra Sound scanning, well established Bio chemical and Pathological laboratory. A full-fledged Homeopathic Pharmacy manufacturing according to the GMP norms is attached to the hospital. A senior most Professor of Pharmacy Dr. Rais Miodduin is heading this pharmacy. This pharmacy supplies medicines to 300 odd Govt Homoeo dispensaries located throughout Andhra Pradesh.
