Maharshi Karve Streeshikshan Sansthas Shree Siddhivinayak Arts and Commerce Mahila Mahavidyalaya - Pune was established in 1990. The college runs by Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Sanstha. Sanstha established in 1896, has a century long history in the field of women's education. Bharat Ratna Maharshi Dhondo Keshav Karve founded the Sanstha, and dedicated his whole life to women’s education. In 1896, he set up a shelter for the widows and started educating them. The sapling planted by Maharshi Karve is now turned into a banyan tree.
The vision and mission of Maharshi Karve Streeshikshan Sansthas Shree Siddhivinayak Arts and Commerce Mahila Mahavidyalaya - Pune, aims at upliftment of women in all spheres by giving them quality higher education. Most of our students are the first generation women learners of their families, coming from rural and underprivileged background, whom we guide on the road to empowerment. This needs a quality-conscious academic environment, which we are proud to provide.
Maharshi Karve Streeshikshan Sansthas Shree Siddhivinayak Arts and Commerce Mahila Mahavidyalaya - Pune provides, teaching program for Junior College of Commerce (English medium- intake capacity 240 at FYJC level), three UG programmes, BA and B.Com and BBA, and five PG programmes, MA (Economics, Sociology and English)and M.Com. (Costing and Administration), are offered. The College enjoys permanent affiliation with the Pune University. All aspects of the curricula are aimed at an overall development of the students’ personality.

In its first phase, the library is housed in 14000 sq ft. The library has interloan facility. The library is well stacked and catalogued and uses LIBSY.

The residential complex has sports and Gym facility, this includes, Volley-ball, Basket ball Lawn-tennis and Badminton courts, besides Table tennis. The Foot ball and Cricket grounds are getting ready for the season.
