In the year 1979, Journalism was introduced for the B.A course with Optional English and Psychology for the first time in the Bangalore University in the college. Now, Journalism is offered with the Women’s Studies & Psychology or Optional language. The college is also proud to be the first and only one to introduce Women’s Studies at an Under Graduate level

NMKRV College for Women - Bangalore annually conducts inter-class and inter-collegiate competitions under the association’s banner. In addition to this are the numerous workshops, conferences and seminars like Vision-2010 an annual science seminar, ARTLOBE-2010, an annual humanities seminar, Rajamma Memorial lecture, kameshwaramma Kuppuswamy endowment lecture, and International Women’s day. The Departments of commerce and management conduct fests and competitions annually. The Department of sports holds intercollegiate tournaments in Volleyball, chess, cricket, every year.
