Nagpur Veterinary College - NVC Nagpur one of the leading Veterinary Colleges in the Central India was established in 1958 with the sole objective of producing the graduates in Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry to cater the needs of Vidarbha and Marathwada regions of Maharashtra. The initial intake capacity of the college was 45. After the transfer of this college to the Punjabrao Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola (Agriculture University) as its constituent college in 1969, the intake capacity was increased to 65 and then to 100 with further reduction to 80 seats and subsequently it was reduced to 61. During this period post graduate courses were started in 9 subjects with intake capacity of 2 seats per subject. This college w.e.f. year 2001-2002 has been transferred to Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University.
Nagpur Veterinary College - NVC Nagpur has a young and enthusiastic faculty, devoted to impart an updated knowledge to both U.G. and P.G. students and imbibe in them the sense of responsibility, discipline and work culture to make them fit for field jobs. Every year about 10 to 15 students of this institute are selected for Post-graduate admissions in other colleges in the country under ICAR programme.

LAN has been established and all the departments of centrally located college and University Campus, administrative blocks and academic officials now working in a network environment and utilizing library services including Internet facility, CD Networking & Web-based Online Public\ Access Catalogue (OPAC). Two sites of LAN are interconnected by Radio Frequency Technique.

Nagpur Veterinary College has its own playgrounds such as Basket Ball Court, Football Ground, Cricket Ground, Open Badminton Court, Table Tennis Hall, Kabaddi and Kho-Kho Grounds. This college has developed a Gymnasium at common hall of college hostel wherein four station Multi-gymnasium unit. Besides this we have other Gym. Material like Weight Lifting Sets, Parallel Bar, Bull Workers and Iron Dumbbells are also available.
Nagpur Veterinary College - NVC Nagpur have a very big play field in which different play grounds are available to play various games such as Kabaddi; Kho-Kho; Cricket; Football etc. We have two cemented outdoor badminton courts inside the college building, one cemented badminton court at girl’s hostel and one cemented basketball court besides the college building. The undergraduate as well as Post graduate students participates in Inter collegiate and Inter University Tournaments like Holley ball, Chess, Table Tennis, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Football, Basket ball and Cricket.
It is heartening to mention here that four students of Nagpur Veterinary College - NVC Nagpur are selected fin five member team of Malkhamb to participate in All India Inter-university Tournaments to be held at Amritsar in Feb. 2006. In all, 38 students of Nagpur Veterinary College, Nagpur were selected to represent Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University in various Inter-University tournaments / events during 2005 – 06. Shri. Himanshu Shekhar, student of this college has participated in West one Inter- University debate competition and the University team ranked fourth in the competition.
The students of Nagpur Veterinary College - NVC Nagpur are actively involved in the activities like Blood Donation Camp, Debate Competitions, Essay Writing Competition, Drama, Awareness regarding Aids, Poster magazine, Regular Anti-rabies Vaccination Camp, SPCA activities etc. The EMT tours for visiting the various well known educational institute and research institutes are being organized for undergraduate students.
