The Rustamji Institute of Technology - RJIT Gwalior is the first Engineering College in India established by a Para Military Force. Due to deployment of the bulk of the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in militancy affected areas, the majorities of the force personnel stay separated from their families and are unable to look after the education of their children. A number of personnel are laying down their lives in the fight against anti national elements every day. The Rustamji Institute of Technology - RJIT Gwalior is located, in the campus of BSF Academy, Tekanpur, on the Gwalior-Jhansi National Highway, No.75 at a distance of 30 Kms from Gwalior.
The Rustamji Institute of Technology - RJIT Gwalior has been set up with the objective of giving an opportunity to the children of serving BSF personnel as well as for those who have laid down their lives in service to the nation, for acquiring higher technical qualification. The Border Security Force education fund sponsored the development of the institute. The library has varied collection comprising of books and periodicals. A large number of print/online journals are subscribed covering all disciplines.
Spacious reading room is available for reference to various journals, books, magazines and newspapers. All students, faculty members and employees of the Rustamji Institute of Technology - RJIT Gwalior are entitled to make use of the library facilities on taking library membership. Special arrangement is made to keep the air conditioned library reading room open for 12 hrs (8 A.M to 8 P.M.) on every day. Library remains closed on every Sunday and national holidays. The Rustamji Institute of Technology - RJIT Gwalior has a well furnished boy hostel accommodating 126 inmates and a girls hostel for accommodation for 50 girls.
The Rustamji Institute of Technology - RJIT Gwalior is committed to the promotion of industrial growth of the nation and to provide excellent technical human resources to meet the global advancement. The Rustamji Institute of Technology - RJIT Gwalior has a separate Training & Placement cell to help students for on and off campus Recruitment. Students various branches under go industrial training during semester break in different industries of repute. Rs. 1000/- per student is charged for recruitment activities by the T&P Cell.
A number of computer in the centre have been assembled by the student of Rustamji Institute of Technology - RJIT Gwalior with the networking. Workshops for assembly of computers and networking are conducted at the institute periodically. The aim of the Rustamji Institute of Technology - RJIT Gwalior is to computing system in distributed environment and for this purpose the computer lab has Windows 2000server, red Hat Linux 8.0 & SCO UnixWare 7.1 servers with Red Hat Linux 8.0 and Windows XP on clients.
