Sherwood College of Engineering Research and Technology – SCERT Barabanki has a large campus spread over nearly 10 acres, located away from the noise and pollution of the city. Pleasant surroundings help one attain a reflective frame of mind in which an individual pays attention to the things around them. A reflective mindset is crucial for quality education as a student is required to ponder over the principles behind technological application like stepper motors, logic circuits, printed circuit boards and kinematics of machine elements. This is one of the reasons why great institutions like the IITs have well spread out campus with a lot of peace and quiet.
Sherwood College of Engineering Research and Technology – SCERT Barabanki central and departmental library is housed in one separate building. The library is well stocked with more than 5000 books to meet the needs of all branches of engineering. Care is taken to ensure the availability of latest editions of popular text books from leading Indian and foreign authors. The library also subscribes to reputed national and international journals. It has popular encyclopedias and dictionaries. Leading daily newspapers and magazines are also available. The library is open to students till late in the night.
The computer center at Sherwood College of Engineering Research and Technology – SCERT Barabanki is equipped with the latest computers and software like AutoCAD, MATLAB and PSpice which are critical to the practice of engineering. A 1:4 computer to student ratio will ensure that student get adequate computer time. The lab is fully air conditioned. It has a full power backup. The computer center has high speed internet connectivity ensuring that students have access to e-mail, internet publications and websites of interest. The center is open till late at night so that the students can come in as per their convenience.
Sherwood College of Engineering Research and Technology – SCERT Barabanki laboratories in different departments are well developed according to UPTU and AICTE norms. Students are allowed to operate the machines/equipments, take necessary studies and readings. Laboratory instructions are given by well trained staff members. Laboratories in the electrical and mechanical engineering include all kinds of electrical machines (motors, generators electrical and electronic instrumentations), mechanical machines such as hydraulic turbines, pumps, flow measurement experiments, heat transfer equipments, metrology and measurements, computer graphics lab, engineering mechanics and materials testing. Sherwood College of Engineering Research and Technology – SCERT Barabanki electronics department is well equipped with electronic trainer kits, measuring instruments, microwave engineering equipments, PCB machines, microprocessors and simulation lab with latest software. The computer science and engineering department has a separate computer center with 24 hours internet service, software engineering lab, programming laboratory and artificial intelligence lab. All computers are connected with internet so that students are allowed to collect literature, assignments etc. using the net facilities.
Sherwood College of Engineering Research and Technology – SCERT Barabanki central workshop is fully equipped with all kinds of conventional machineries required for training the students in the manufacturing sciences. To name a few, we have various metal forming machines, MIG/CO2 welding machine, lathes, shapers, drilling and milling machines, surface grinder etc. In foundry shop the students are allowed to make sand castings on their own hand after making pattern in the carpentry shop and making a sand mould. Advanced machines such as CNC machines are being procured for training the students in the latest manufacturing methods.
Sherwood College of Engineering Research and Technology – SCERT Barabanki campus has separate boys and girls hostels with special security arrangements in both the hostels. There is Mess facility which boasts of high quality hygienic vegetarian and non- vegetarian food, apart from other facilities like recreation and TV room, In campus sports facility. Hostels shall have table tennis, chess, carom, television and a reading room with newspapers and magazines. Sherwood College of Engineering Research and Technology – SCERT Barabanki campus has badminton courts, football, volleyball, basketball fields. Regular competitions are organized. In house fast food cafeteria is available till late night to cater to the students. The whole campus has a 24 hours power backup incase of electricity failure.
Indoor and out door games are being played by students in Sherwood College of Engineering Research and Technology – SCERT Barabanki campus. A well developed play ground with all the amenities is available for the students. Sports meet is held in the month of February-March every year and the students are awarded with shield and certificates. Students are selected based on their talent in playing and they are given extensive training by a well qualified physical director. In our recent cricket tournament first year Electronics and Communication engineering students won the match. Other activities include Extra Mural Lectures, Cultural Activities and service to the society.
Sherwood College of Engineering Research and Technology – SCERT Barabanki is about to complete a full-fledged Training & Placement Cell to look after the Placement activities. The Training and Placement cell will provides the official support base for placement of Final year & Pre Final year students. The support services that it will offer are in the form of arranging campus interviews, grooming students to face the final test of their knowledge, create and arrange value added industrial/practical training to the students.College offers undergraduate course in Engineering and postgraduate course MBA.
