Subbulakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science – Madurai started by Subbulakshmi Lakshmipathy foundation in the year 1994. College was promoted by the Dr R Lakshmipathy, a doyen in the Newspaper industry. He is the publisher of the largest circulated Tamil Daily "Dinamalar". The college got autonomy in the year 2006 because of its successful functioning and placement.

Subbulakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science – Madurai is equipped with Spacious Class rooms with good ventilation and lighting. Each class room is provided with OHPs, Fiber glass boards and all teaching aids required for a modern teaching institution. In order to give individual attention to students, each section is conducted with a maximum number of 35 students only. Subbulakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science – Madurai Library is equipped with latest books in all main subjects and with various technical magazines, which has nearly 100 magazines. To encourage the use of library and easy access to the students, it is open from 7.00 A.M. to 9.00 P.M. in all the 7 days of the week. It has a spacious reading room. It contains all latest books related to Hotel Management & Catering sciences, Management Studies, Information Technology and Electronics & Communication, Animation and Commerce. It also has books related to Competitive exams.
Subbulakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science – Madurai is equipped with a sophisticated Computer Lab, which has a configuration of high performance IBM Servers and Pentium IV Workstations. The configuration is such that 60 students can work in each session. Latest Operating system platforms are installed for the students to have hands-on experience. The Lab will be kept open from 7.00 am to 8.00 pm for the students to work. Lab coordinators are appointed to assist the students while working in the lab.
A dedicated 1 Mbps Fiber optic circuit line is established in the Subbulakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science – Madurai lab to provide Internet services. Our internet lab is equipped with Fat Server and Thin Clients architecture which exclusively designed for Internet Browsing. There are 60 thin clients connected with a powerful Server. The Internet facility will be available to the students on a nominal fee from 07.00 am to 09.00 pm. on all working days. Two Internet Lab Coordinators of the Subbulakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science – Madurai are available in two shifts for assistance to the students during Browsing.
The college has a separate Controller of Examination office to conduct the monthly and semester examinations. This office has a Controller of Examination and an Assistant Controller of Examination; they are assisted by staff for evaluation and publishing of the results to the students on time. Subbulakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science – Madurai has a well-equipped seminar hall with a capacity of 300 seats, with all gadgets in it. It is supported with an LCD projector, loud speakers and Sound systems. Most of our Guest lectures are arranged in the seminar Hall. A Technician is appointed for the effective maintenance of the equipments of the Seminar Hall.
Subbulakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science – Madurai have an exclusive Audio Visual Room equipped with a Television and all types of latest CDs and Video collections related to Hotel Management, Management Studies, Communication Skills, etc. Our students are given demos on different subjects in visuals so that students understand the real essence of the subjects.
The Foundation maintains beautifully laid-out of Subbulakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science – Madurai hostel, offering single occupancy rooms for male students, with modern amenities. A separate Ladies Hostel is also maintained in the campus, where female students are provided accommodation on double occupancy basis. The student mess is functioning in the premises throughout the year, managed by the Foundation, administered by student committee, with charges payable on dividing system.
