The rapid progress made by our country in the field of Science and technology has given rise to a phenomenal demand for qualified engineers in all areas and to cope up the demand there has been a surge in institutions offering engineering education. The college is approved by AICTE, New Delhi.

The college is situated in Thalambur, which is 20 kms from Adyar and 3 kms from Navalur of the Old Mahabalipuram Road (IT Highway), and is well connected by road. Campus facility of Vels Srinivasa College of Engineering and Technology – Chennai is built in a sprawling campus of 26.6 Acres of land admits a quit ambience best suited for higher education. The college has spacious building for class rooms, workshops and laboratories. The class rooms as well as drawing halls are spacious, well ventilated, and airy and are provided with furniture best suited for academic work. OHP's and LCD projectors are available wherever necessary. Vels Srinivasa College of Engineering and Technology – Chennai there are more than 12 laboratories, apart from 4 ultra modern computer centers and 2 workshops for basic engineering. The college also has a centrally air conditioned seminar hall which has a seating capacity of about 550.

All the basic equipments needed for the fundamentals of engineering like, fitting and assembly, carpentry, smithy, welding, foundry etc are available.
