Vivekanand Education Societys College of Arts, Science and Commerce - Mumbai was established in June 1979. It has now completed 32 years & is permanently affiliated to the University of Mumbai. Our College has minority status (Sindhi linguistic minority). Vivekanand Education Societys College of Arts, Science and Commerce - Mumbai is run by Vivekanand Education Society. The Society started its educational activities in 1962 with 256 students in a High School. Today the Society runs a Primary and High School, Junior College, Degree College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Polytechnic and Engineering College and a College for Management Studies with over 18,000 students on its roll.
Vivekanand Education Societys College of Arts, Science and Commerce - Mumbai goal is to impart Quality Education and contribute towards character building of students. Our endeavor to achieve it, is reflected through our curriculum wherein continuous efforts are directed to make the educational programs more relevant. Counseling provided by our teachers and Vedanta lecture series conducted in the college are supportive for students to improve the quality of life. We desire to give our students diverse learning experiences through our co-curricular activities. A very good conducive academic atmosphere and discipline among students is our major strength. Vivekanand Education Societys College of Arts, Science and Commerce - Mumbai is located at Sindhi Society Chembur, Mumbai, Maharashtra. The Library is situated on the fourth floor having an area of 6500 sq. ft. with a seating capacity 250 students. Vivekanand Education Societys College of Arts, Science and Commerce - Mumbai Library is the hub of learning with a rich collection of about 33,000 books, standard reference sources and other audio - visual material like videocassettes and CD ROM's. The library subscribes to around 96 periodicals some of which are International Journals. The college Library is fully automated with Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) of Library holdings.
Vivekanand Education Societys College of Arts, Science and Commerce - Mumbai has separate laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Psychology, Computer Science and IT. All the laboratories are adequately equipped as per the University norms. Computer Department has 3 full-fledged computer labs equipped with latest software & hardware. The labs are constantly updated to cater to the current demands. The classrooms are quite spacious, ventilated and well lighted. They are well furnished with furniture and fittings.
Vivekanand Education Societys College of Arts, Science and Commerce - Mumbai has a fully air conditioned Conference Hall with 250 seating capacity. The various programmes like seminars, talks by eminent scholars, etc., are arranged in the Hall. College has over-head projectors, T. V. and Video Sets & LCD Projectors. The academic and Science Cassettes are shown to students in the Conference Hall as part of their curricular activities. The college has a big play ground with facility for games like Basket Ball, Volley Ball, Cricket & Foot Ball. Track facility for athletic events. There is a canteen in a separate building with variety of hygienic foods for students and staff.
The N.S.S. Unit of Vivekanand Education Societys College of Arts, Science and Commerce - Mumbai has been in existence since 1982, with a primary objective of arousing social consciousness and to provide the students with an opportunity to work with the community. In the process the unit also aims to enhance the personality of the participating volunteers. Government of India and Ministry of Education and Culture in collaboration with the State Government sponsors the programme. Our N.S.S. Unit-in-Charge Prof. Bhavadas was felicitated as the best N.S.S. Officer by the University of Mumbai in the year 1997-98. The N.S.S. Unit works along with various GOs & NGOs for conducting various programmes.
Placement Cell has been constituted in Vivekanand Education Societys College of Arts, Science and Commerce - Mumbai to facilitate recruitment of students. So far our students have been placed in companies like WIPRO, ICICI, MBT, Infosys, Lehman Bros, Deutsche Bank, Syntel Technologies, Hex aware, Reliance Communication, APEX Pharma & Cadila Pharmaceuticals.
