The Hitkarini City College is now known as Hitkarini Mahila Mahavidyalaya – Jabalpur (Hitkarini Womens College) was established in 1933 by the leading and one of the oldest educational organization of central India, Hitkarini Sabha. Hitkarini Mahila Mahavidyalaya – Jabalpur campus is situated in the heart of Jabalpur city in Madhya Pradesh. The college has both graduate and post graduate courses which are taught by experienced faculty. It provides quality education in the field of Humanities - Economics, Hindi Literature, Sociology, Political Science, Psychology; Science – Mathematics, Biology, Computer Science, Micro-biology & Electronics; and Commerce. College offers different kind of undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
Hitkarini Mahila Mahavidyalaya – Jabalpur aims to provide education to the masses with a very reasonable fee structure. The college campus has the required infrastructure in the form of class rooms, laboratories, library, etc to provide a good teaching environment. Library of Hitkarini Mahila Mahavidyalaya – Jabalpur has a collection of about 35000 books. There are about 15000 text books, 20169 other books, about 245 reference books subscribed magazines, national & international journals. Library is kept open even on holidays at the time of examination for students convenience. There is an “Antique Section” in the library which displays the oldest and rare collection of books of eminent authors, this part of the library is a unique effort of our faculties which is very useful for reference purpose for researchers, scholars and educationists etc.
The oldest computer center of the city runs in Hitkarini Mahila Mahavidyalaya – Jabalpur has all the latest software & hardware, internet facility, which is accessible to all students if desired. The unique feature of the computer center is that this is not only the oldest center of the city but also is the first center of the city which accommodated the e-learners of other colleges also. This college has the privilege of being nominated center for giving coaching to students belonging to minority community by UGC. During summers special package was prepared by reputed scholars.
The canteen is open throughout the day for students with all the desired varieties made in a clean and hygienic atmosphere. Hitkarini Mahila Mahavidyalaya – Jabalpur runs one unit of NSS in which students organize different activities. Regular activities of NSS include – Tree plantation, cleanliness of environment, adult education and literacy program, health programmes etc. Apart from these activities the NSS students extensively work for AIDS awareness, Blood Donation, Disaster management, hygiene & sanitation training, anti-alcoholism etc. These students along with their programme officer adopt any congested or slum area of the city and by organizing street plays, Nukkar Natak, Poster rallies, lectures etc. educate the residents of these areas.
