Vivekanandha College of Arts and Sciences for Women – Namakkal was started in the year 1995 with a view to provide quality education to young and aspiring women students. It is well established institute offering quality education in a nourishing environment to prepare the young generation for the challenges of tomorrow. It is affiliated to Periyar University and approved by AICTE. At present there are about 8200 students in the college, making it the largest womens college under Periyar University.

College motto is “The hand that rocks the same, our chairman has established Vivekananda College of arts and sciences for women to impart a life education with various career-oriented and non-conventional courses. It has gained wide recognition including the accreditation with the NAAC in July 2009.

Uniforms and tracksuits and various other accessories are supplied to all the players who represent our college. Department of Physical Education used to form two sets of team in every game. The first team called Main Stream consists of senior players and the Second Stream comprises the talented players from First year. Advanced skills and tactics are being imparted to the mainstream players by inviting eminent coaches. Similarly, the second stream will also be trained throughout the year.
The Department also encourages and recognizes the Vivekanandha College of Arts and Sciences for Women – Namakkal students who have represented District, University and State in various games by honoring them during the Annual Sports day. Indian Overseas Bank has its Elayampalayam Branch within the Campus. The students and the staff can operate accounts. ATM facility is also available in college campus (4 Places). Vivekanandha College of Arts and Sciences for Women – Namakkal management sponsors an Eye care, Dental and a General hospital. They are dedicated to medical service. Sick students will be treated as outpatients or admitted in the hospitals for treatment. Individual hostels are provided with full time residential doctors. Round the clock ambulance service is available in all the hostels.
