Alonzo Harding Mourning, Jr. is a former professional basketball player of United States. He was born on February 8, 1970 in Chesapeake, Virginia. Alonzo Mourning started his basketball career with Charlotte Hornets in 1992. He spent most of his career playing for Miami Heat and has also played for New Jersey Nets. Alonzo Mourning has been honored with many awards such as NBA champion (2006), NBA Defensive Player of the Year (1999,2000), J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award (2002) and Big East Conference Player of the Year (1992). He was appointed as the Vice President of Player Programs and Development for the Miami Heat in 2009.
