A D J Dharmambal Polytechnic College - Nagapattinam was established due to the initiative of Thiru.A.D.Jawaharpandian in memory of his beloved better-half, the late Mrs. Dharmambal in the year 1979. It was functioning at Valivalam Desikar Polytechnic up to 1986 as a women's wing. Due to the efforts of Thiru A.D.Jayaveera pandian, the polytechnic moved into the existing campus during the year 1986-87. Now it is named as A.D.J.Dharmambal polytechnic college a coeducational Institution, running the following courses.
A D J Dharmambal Polytechnic College - Nagapattinam is a Government aided Institution which was started under the auspices of the A.D.J. Dharmambal Educational Trust and is running efficiently under the continuous guidance, encouragement and support from the management. Our founder president the late Thiru.A.D.Jeyaveera Pandian was a great philanthro-pist, Industrialist and a pioneer in the Import and Export business. He showed great interest in the growth and development of the polytechnic.
A D J Dharmambal Polytechnic College - Nagapattinam is managed by a Governing council with Thiru.A.D. Jeyempandian, B.Sc, B.Sc (Tech), as Chairman, Thiru A.D. Jeyaprakash, B.Sc (Agri), as Treasurer and representatives from State Government and Management. Our Chairman Thiru A.D. Jeyempandian B.Sc, B.Sc (Tech), is playing a pivotal role in the development of our polytechnic. We have a dedicated team of experienced and qualified Teachers, supporting staff and Administrative staff.
A D J Dharmambal Polytechnic College - Nagapattinam is a Government -Aided co-education Institution. It offers diploma courses in Engineering and Technology at the post secondary level. This polytechnic also provides formal and nonformal continuing education courses under CPS, CIICP, EMD and IIPC for the upliftment of the community. The institution aims at an international level of competency by providing high quality education and training. College provides Diploma program to the college students.

We have books mainly in Computer, Electronics and Instrumentation. And also we have books on Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Civil, Mechanical, Management etc. Library will be kept open from 10 AM to 5.45 PM. Students and staff members have free access to all books and magazines. In our library we subscribe totally twenty magazines including dailies. We have 1400 volumes on Electronics, 1800 volumes on Computer and 963 volumes on Instrumentation. Our library is a learning resource centre in which we have audio-visual aids like multimedia projector, over head projector, TV, VCD player etc. which makes our learning in an efficient manner.
A D J Dharmambal Polytechnic College - Nagapattinam provide hostel facility. Hostel accommodation is available separately for both for girls and boys. At present 70 girls and 25 boys students are staying in the hostel and vegetarian mess is being run on dividing system and the present daily rate Rs. 25/- in addition to the lodging charge. Our management is very interested in promoting the hostel facilities. Free food and Accommodation in the hostel is provided to some poor students.
Facilities for indoor and outdoor games are available in A D J Dharmambal Polytechnic College - Nagapattinam. This polytechnic is a member of Inter Polytechnic Athletic Association and is sending teams for tournaments. There is a N.S.S. unit functioning in this polytechnic. Participation in N.S.S. by the student is optional and all the medically fit students can join in N.S.S. There is a Y.R.C unit functioning in this Polytechnic College. All the students can join in Y.R.C.
