Al-Kabir Polytechnic-AKP Jamshedpur is recognized by State Board of Technical Education (SBTE), Govt. of Jharkhand and approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Govt. of India.
Al-Kabir Polytechnic-AKP Jamshedpur was founded in 1990 in the Steel City of Jamshedpur, the industrial heart of Jharkhand. It was born of the mission and the foresightedness of the people of the Trust and was nurtured by the selfless and dedicated efforts of the Founder and the Chairman of Kabir Welfare Trust Haji Abdul Hakim.
t was a long cherished desire of the Kabir Welfare Trust to establish a Technical Institute to benefit the minority and other backward communities of the Chotanagpur region as well as the rest of the nation. The idea was conceived and after much sweat and toil, K.W.T. achieved its goal and Al-Kabir Polytechnic was established in 1990. In future Kabir Welfare Trust is aiming to start a degree engineering college.
The Al-Kabir Polytechnic-AKP Jamshedpur campus spread over an area of 12 acre is located in Kabirnagar, having covered area of over 1 lakh square feet It has a magnificent two story Main College Building accommodating Administrative offices, Classrooms, Drawing halls, Library, Laboratories etc, with a beautiful Garden adoring it, a well equipped Workshop, play Ground. There are two spacious Hostel Building with all essential facilities. The vision of the Al-Kabir Polytechnic-AKP Jamshedpur is to become a center of excellence in technical education and skill development, to occupy a place amongst the eminent institutions of the country and guide the students to become a responsible citizen and a competent professional and the mission of the Al-Kabir Polytechnic-AKP Jamshedpur is to impart high quality education and skill development for the upliftment of monitoring and downtrodden segment of the society. They want to become regional focal point in human development and other training activities, to aim for higher educational set up with continuous improvement in the areas of technical and scientific knowledge, Practice and promote high standard of professional ethics transparency and accountability.
The Al-Kabir Polytechnic-AKP Jamshedpur Central Library is known as Sir Syed Library which serves as the perennial source of knowledge for the students as well as faculty members. Our Library is well equipped and well managed. Our library provides the reading materials in accordance with the curriculum of various disciplines to help students to grasp knowledge for examination purposes besides their general mental development.
A very rich collection of books are maintained in the Al-Kabir Polytechnic-AKP Jamshedpur with a total collection of over 10,000 books .The collection is growing day by day on various current and emerging technologies related to various streams. Two books are issued to a student for 15 days.
Al-Kabir Polytechnic-AKP Jamshedpur Library has a spacious reading room with all the necessary facilities along with a standby generator. The Reference books are available in the Reading Room. The purpose of reference section is to provide reading materials which may be issued in circulation section.
Al-Kabir Polytechnic-AKP Jamshedpur has a canteen facility inside the campus. The canteen is the part and parcel for the students in the campus. Students may take a bite and carry on with their work. Snacks, tea and brewages are served to students as well as staff members at a subsidized rate. The canteen has a large floor area for the students to relax. The canteen is situated at the back, of the campus. Pass out students have a nostalgic feeling for this place. The canteen is privately run and is well managed.
Al-Kabir Polytechnic-AKP Jamshedpur has two distinct and separate hostels, each divided into four blocks. It provides a home-like environment for the growth and development of its residents, ensuring at the same time attributes of discipline, care, concern and conscientious disposition. It has accommodation for one hundred and fifty students in both the hostels. The Hostel provides accommodation during the operative academic session. The hostel of Al-Kabir Polytechnic-AKP Jamshedpur has Generator facility to provide backup power supply. Every block of the hostel is equipped with water coolers. The hostels have security guards round the clock. The Hostel has a well maintained garden and a small orchard. Ambulance is provided in case of emergency. There is a separate Library facility for the residents. The Al-Kabir Polytechnic-AKP Jamshedpur has a well-furnished and air-conditioned conference room, which has a projector and internet facility. Many singular events are organized inside the conference room.
