All India Institute of Local Self Government-AllLSG Ahmedabad was established in 1965, the All India Institute of Local Self Government strives towards strengthening and improving the organisation towards efficient governance. The All LSG is well known as the anchor institute for Urban Management. The main emphasis of the AIILSG is to enable local bodies to contribute effectively to the development process and provide citizens with a better quality life. "Knowledge & "Empowerment" and sharing of best practices nationally and globally to form the bedrock of excellence in local urban governance through qualitative implementation of capacity building and training for good urban governance.
To promote All India Institute of Local Self Government-AllLSG Ahmedabad as premier institute of excellence to strengthen and reinforce Urban Local Governance. To strive for giving quality education, training, conduct research and promote advocacy for empowering local governments and diligently make all out efforts towards transformation of the society for the betterment of human life. The main emphasis of the institute's work is to see that the local bodies contribute more effectively to the development process and provide the citizens with better living conditions by meeting their aspirations in terms of required amenities, infrastructure and better environmental conditions, thus contributing to social and economic development of the society as a whole by better urban management.
Initially All India Institute of Local Self Government-AllLSG Ahmedabad was located at Lal Darwaja. Thereafter, in the year 1967 revenue free land was allotted at khanpur and the institute building was constructed which is known as Barfiwala Bhavan. There are six classrooms, one AC conference hall with Audio visual aids, Library, Laboratory and office having 13 cabins for officers and office space for other staff members. Totally 35 staff members are at present working at this centre.
All India Institute of Local Self Government-AllLSG Ahmedabad also has a Computer Departmemt at our Ahmedabad regional center. Our computer centre is one of the training centres of Gujarat Knowledge Society (GKS) & Society for Creation of Opportunities Through Proficiency in English (SCOPE). Government of Gujarat came up with a revolutionary measure to bridge the gap between requirements of educational system and industries. Here, specially customized short term courses are prepared that can be easily provided to the common man at a nominal rate. To implement and take these specially customized programmes to every corner of the state of Gujarat, the Gujarat Knowledge Society was instituted. Gujarat Knowledge Society aims to empower the young students of standard 10, 12 and those educated beyond this by providing a curriculum that will provide them high expertise and open up new employment avenues.
