Annasaheb Gundewar College - Nagpur is run by the Village Uplift Society, founded by Karmaveer Dadasaheb Kannamwar, Ex. Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Late Annasaheb Gundewar, the pioneer of Bharat Sewak Samaj. The Village Uplift Society established in the year 1960 has the object of bettering the lot of our neglected villages in all spheres in accordance with Gandhiji’s slogan “Back to Village”. The society has quite a number of substantial activities to its credit and is expanding its work more and more in the remote rural and tribal areas, as well as in urban slums by organizing schools, hostels, watershed development, rural and tribal development center, health and child care programme, etc.

Nagpur University and perpetual guidance from Humble Balasaheb Kannamwar, President and Humble Adv. Babasaheb Sunkar, Secretary of the Village Uplift Society and whole hearted co-operation from the well wishers have accelerated educational achievement of the college during these 25 years.

Our Principal Dr. Madhukar Rode has been Organizing Secretary for the Conference and later on he has been Chairperson of XII Maharashtra State Level Commerce Conference held at Aurangabad in the session 2000-2001.
The National Service Scheme has been started in the Birth Centenary year of the father of nation, Mahatma Gandhi. This scheme is working with the slogan “Not me But you”. N.S.S. is established in Annasaheb Gundewar College - Nagpur to acquaint the students with social life and also to inculcate in them the spirit of social upliftment. The NSS Department holds regular camp every year. The department arranged the University Level NSS Camp of 200 students from different colleges in the RTM Nagpur University at Kannamwargram in the year 1997 and also State Level NSS Camp with the participation 200 students from different Universities in the State of Maharashtra in 1998.

Nagpur University in various games & sports, inter-collegiate, state, national and inter-national activities. The students have brought laurels to the college in different events with their outstanding performances. Annasaheb Gundewar College - Nagpur has won 14 Championships of the R.T.M. Nagpur University in Chess, Hockey, Cricket and Boxing. We are runner up in Hockey, Chess, Cricket and Boxing. Our 76 students are color holders of R.T.M. Nagpur University (Girls 33 & Boys 43).
