Bengal College of Engineering and Technology - BCET Durgabar was set up by the SKS Educational and Social Trust in 2001 with an objective of imparting quality education in Engineering and Technology. The aim of the College has been to maintain a liaison with the industries on one hand and the premier engineering institutions of the region-like the IIT Kharagpur, NIT Durgapur, CMERI Central Mechanical Engineers Research Institute, Durgapur , ISI {Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, Jadavpur University Kolkata on the other. The College is Approved by All India Council of Technical Education AICTE-New Delhi, under Ministry of HRD, the Govt. of India . It is recognised by the Govt. of West Bengal.
Since its inception,
Bengal College of Engineering and Technology - BCET Durgabar has been developing very fast, and today it has got a very commendable infrastructure, which includes a well built campus, airy class-rooms, well equipped labs, well facilitated separate hostels for boys and girls with 24x7 security, power back-up, PNB bank, etc. The Hon'ble chief minister of West Bengal, Shri Buddhadeb Bhattacharya and many other high profile Ministers and dignitaries such as Late Mrinal Banerjee, Shri Banso Gopal Choudhury, Late Subhash Chakraborty, Shri Surya Kanta Misra have visited and praised the college campus.
The location of
Bengal College of Engineering and Technology - BCET Durgabar with respect to the Durgapur City is also very good, because it is located right along one of the very main roads of Durgapur and hence it has got a good connectivity with the local transport system. Apart from this, if we consider about the surroundings of the campus, we could see three of the best hospitals of the city (Bidhan Nagar Hospital, ESI Hospital, Vivekananda Hospital) right along its side and the STPI (Software Technology Park of India) also.

Bengal College of Engineering and Technology - BCET Durgabar has an excellent campus. The campus in itself is very wide, big and well-built, very well protected and has been very well planned. It is located in Bidhan Nagar, a well-known locality in Durgapur. The campus has all the basic facilities, which a student can long for. If checked with specifications, the campus is located on a sprawling land of about 25 acres and the college is only about a kilometer away from the main G.T Road.
Bengal College of Engineering and Technology - BCET Durgabar has two Boys hostels with all facilities: 1. Vikram Sarabhai Boys Hostel is having a capacity of accommodating 600 boys. 2. Homi Bhava Boys Hostel can accommodate 400 boys. All the hostel rooms provide two bed facility. A four tier fully vegetarian meal is served in the hostel mess. Clean & Cold filtered drinking water facility and round the clock electricity backup is also provided. The rooms are purpose-built and provide all necessary amenities for the students. The speciality of these hostels is that they are located in the campus and that is why they have airy, well ventilated rooms and apart from this, the campus also adds many other values to the hostels. The hostel rooms have a fiber optics Internet connectivity of 8.0 mbps raw, unshared bandwidth , which is free of any extra costs. WBUT EDUSAT based LAN connectivity for MIT, USA & IIT class notes are also provided free of cost to augment the students knowledge base.
At present,
Bengal College of Engineering and Technology - BCET Durgabar has two libraries. The Central Library in the campus is place of pride for SKS Group of Institutions, Durgapur. It is an essential component of the Institute’s outstanding research and education mission. It is a most lively place on the campus providing a safe, comfortable and friendly environment that enables learning and advancement of knowledge. The mission of the Central Library is to facilitate creation of new knowledge through acquisition, organization and dissemination of knowledge resources and providing for value added services. The Central Library is an Air-Conditioned and fully automated. It is well stocked and has excellent collection of books, journals and non book material in Science, Engineering, Technology, Humanities, Social Sciences and Management. At present the Central Library has a collection of over 41000 volumes of books with 4225 titles of different subjects. Besides this, the Central Library has 1500 CD’s. The OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) has been made available in the library and any search viz. authors, titles, subjects, book no. etc. can be made through it. The Management Library is also fully air-conditioned and is mainly meant for the students of Management & Computer Application programs. But however the students of SKS Group of Institutions can also access the books from the Management library.

It's a matter of great pride that
Bengal College of Engineering and Technology - BCET Durgabar has achieved the coveted NBA Accreditation and ISO 9001:2008 quality certification in March, 2007. The substantial progress of the College in a short time of just seven years is really worth appreciation. The developing infrastructure of the college is truly bound to make the campus, internationally competent in the coming years. Even though just five of the batches have graduated, the campus placements in
Bengal College of Engineering and Technology - BCET Durgabar have been steadily improving, and in the coming years it is being aimed to achieve 100% placements. The T&P department has put all endeavours to get the big companies associated with the college and it would not be wrong to expect the best companies (like Microsoft, Reliance, Nokia etc.) coming to BCET in near future. Many of the students of the College have had good ranks in competitive examinations like CAT, GATE, GRE and the results in the University Examinations have also been brilliant with a rate of 100% success in every semester.
Around 45 students of
Bengal College of Engineering and Technology - BCET Durgabar are studying abroad in US, UK and other universities with lucrative scholarships. Recently college received sizeable amount of research funds to initiate research in the fields of nanotechnology. It has also received Rs 8 Lacs for Entrepreneurship Development Cell. This will initiate motivation among the students to become entrepreneurs and establish themselves, setting examples for others to follow. Apart from academic achievements the College has also put up sincere efforts to develop Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme in which the Institute received National Championship Award, from legendary entrepreneur Dr. Kiram Mazumdar Shah at IISC Bangalore. This is for the consecutive third time that the College has bagged the prestigious NEN award. Apart from this the College also has one active NSS centre to serve the Society at large.
