Bharathiyar College of Engineering and Technology - BCET Karaikal was founded in 1997 by Sri Balaji Educational and Charitable Trust as the first self financed technological institution of higher learning for the citizens of U.T. of Puducherry, BCET became the Earliest Engineering College in Karaikal. As a pioneer engineering institution, Bharathiyar College of Engineering and Technology - BCET Karaikal strives to discover practical uses for theoretical knowledge, and also to speed the diffusion of information to its students, the state, the nation and the World. Our Institution has implemented a Quality Management System as per guidelines of ISO 9001 – 2000 and has been awarded ISO Certification by RWTUV. Three departments namely Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering have been accredited by the Government body NBA – AICTE.

Bharathiyar College of Engineering and Technology - BCET Karaikal Library is housed with 21,004 technical volumes, 156 National and International journals and periodicals, 1003 back volumes, 626 CDs, 178 floppies and 1300 project reports along with 483 volumes of Question Bank. The Students can access the library and use the facility in air-conditioned comfort in total silence. There is a computer at the library besides a photo copying machine. Library hours are 9 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. The students are required to follow the rules of the library, to utilize the library fully.
Bharathiyar College of Engineering and Technology - BCET Karaikal provides excellent hostel facilities for boys and girls with delicious food. There is a canteen inside the campus which provides lunch and snacks. Lunch is provided inside the campus for all students. The Trust has decided to construct a Guest House for accommodating the parents for a brief stay, who wants to visit their wards. Separate Hostel building for boys and girls is available. The college has provided 10 buses for the transport of students from the town to the college campus. Transport by college bus is compulsory for students and no private vehicles are allowed.
The main aim of the Physical Education department, an amalgamation of Bharathiyar College of Engineering and Technology - BCET Karaikal sport and recreation services and the union of student’s sports clubs are to promote sports for all and cater for all abilities. Our college sport team complete at local league and inter university levels. College sport also boasts a large recreational sports programme including an extensive intramural programme, which is a series of leagues and competitions.
