Clairol History


Clairol was founded by Lawrence M. Gelb and Joan Gelb in 1931. During 1950, the Clairol takes first step with hair color product for professional use. In 1956, the company starts a product line of home hair-coloring kit, and creates a well reputation in domestic areas. Clairol was regarded one of the major organizations in the United States market for hair-coloring by 1959. In the same year, Bristol-Myers Squibb, a pharmaceutical company acquired from the Gelbs. Clairol introduced the first shampoo-in haircolor under the brand name of Nice 'n Easy, and also introduced a slogan, “The closer he gets, the better you look”. In the year 2001, Bristol-Myers Squibb sold its Clairol division to the 'The Procter&Gamble Company'. In 2003, the company changed its name in P&G-Clairol, Inc. from original name, Clairol, Inc.

Had a free coupon for a box of Root Touch-Up Hair Color, but all the versions were excluded on the coupon. The exact language on the coupon was "FREE ONE BOX of Clairol Root Touch-Up Hair Color (up to $8. 99) (excludes Balsam, Age Defy, Nice 'N Easy, Natural Instincts and trial/travel size). But there is a picture on the coupon which shows the Root Touch-Up product which has Nice 'N Easy on the box, but that product is excluded. Exactly what product could I have purchased with this coupon. The coupon is useless because all the versions of the product are excluded. Wasted my time going to four different stores looking for a product that doesn't exist. Will never purchase a product from Clairol.

Have used Clariol no4 for years. I have mid to dark brown long hair and merely use product to cover grey. Noticed new formula, but followed instructions to the letter as always. Horrified by result I am almost black Nothing I do has helped lighten my hair. I look ridiculous. Help please.

It is the hair color I bought online from Amazon.com for $7. 99. It was Nice'N Easy Sun Kissed. This one was so different. After I mixed them together in a bottle, the liquid curdle. It would not go thorough the nozzle. I checked the nozzle, it was fine. The liquid was so thick. I opened the bottle and tried to spread the liquid on my scalp. It was too thick to spread evenly so I couldn't use it any more. I had to throw the rest of the liquid away and I was not able to color my hair properly and completely. Please refund me $7. 99. Please do not send me a coupon because the color (7G) that I used is available only on online. It is not available at stores. Phone 985-210-9810 is for text only because I'm hearing impaired. I bought two boxes of natural instincts reddish brown. It turned out orange I wanted to dye it before a wedding this weekend. Unfortunately it looks nothing like it appears on the box. It has no brown and the red is not red. It's bright orange I would like my money back for the two boxes I bought or some kind of compensation.
