Jabalpur Engineering College - JEC was previously known as Government Engineering College. It was set up on 7 July, 1947. It is one of the oldest technical institutions in the country and Oldest Technical Institution in Central India and the state of Madhya Pradesh. The college was declared independent in 1997-1998 by the Government of Madhya Pradesh. Jabalpur Engineering College was Ranked 35 All India for the year of 2008.
Jabalpur Engineering College - JEC is itself developed as a tiny township centered around Gokulpur and Ranjhi. It has a lush green campus spread across 255 acres of land, rich in natural flora and fauna, the nature has also bestowed its unique beauty to the college by providing a beautiful lake as its natural background. The available within the campus facilities include a bank, State Bank of India, a Post Office and a well equipped Guard House and cell. The college campus has 9 hostels for boys that have a capacity of 814 students. There is a separate hostel for girls, with a very limited accommodation for about 1500 girls only.
Jabalpur Engineering College - JEC Library has a vast collection of books on science and technology including chemistry, mathematics, physics, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, computer science, electrical and electronics engineering, industrial production engineering. In addition to technology and engineering, the library also has a good collection in the areas of humanities and social sciences. The College annually organizes a national level technical cum cultural fest named as "Aureole" which means the light behind the darkness. The College provides admirable facilities for many sports. Its campus has a playground, an Indoor Basketball Court, Volleyball grounds, T.T tables and a Tennis Court which encourages the students to participate in different sports.
