The founding of the Jesus Training College - Thrissur in 1995 by Mar James Pazhayattil, himself a teacher for years, was a memorable event in the history of the Diocese. There were only five teacher education colleges in Keala north of Kochi. And this institution was an answer by the Catholic Community to the ever increasing demand for the teacher education in the region.
Jesus Training College - Thrissur is a teacher education institution Par excellence, owned and managed by the Catholic Diocese of Irinjalakuda. Dedicated to the Holy Name of Jesus, our saviour and the Eternal Guru, this temple of teaching and learning has already carved a niche for itself in a short span of one and a half decade in the educational scenario of central kerala. Situated in a sylvan ambience, remote from the hustles, the Jesus Training College - Thrissur relishes cool and fresh breeze from the rustic rivulets and backwaters glittering in the sun shine indeed a blessing for serene and series intellectual exercise where learning is an Exhilarating experience.
Jesus Training College - Thrissur is a minority co-educational training college owned and run by Jesus Training College Trust, Catholic Diocese of Irinjalakuda. Bishop Mar. James Pazhayattil is the Patron of the college and the ex-officio president of the governing body. Msgr. Jos Kavungal is the manager. The internal administration of the institution is made by the principal who is assisted by the teaching and non-teaching staff. The present principal Fr. Geprge Palamattam assumed charge on 15th September 2007.
Various laboratories have been established to help the students of Jesus Training College - Thrissur in their academic pursuits. The different laboratories in the institution include a language laboratory, technology laboratory, psychology laboratory and the science laboratory. Classes on computer fundamentals, usage of internet etc. are given to the students. The students can utilise the computers, internet and other related facilities, with help and guidance of the teacher assigned for that duty.The students can freely approach this centre for guidance and academic counseling. Classes on Yoga also are conducted once in a week.
A Photo - Copier is at the students service in the Library. Physical Science Lab and Natural Science Lab, Work Experience Lab. Jesus Training College - Thrissur also provides facilites such as Library, Information Technology lab, Conference Hall. Canteen Facility and General Store. Canteen Facility will be open for students with a provision for tea and refreshments. A general store with necessary stationeries and other materials will also be available in the Jesus Training College - Thrissur.
