An institution that strives towards excellence with indefatigable zeal, Kuriakose Gregorios College - K G College Kottayam had its humble beginnings, way back in 1981 in the ITC buildings at Pothenpuram, close to the sacred tomb of Pampady Thirumeni in whose hallowed name the college was established. On 14th September 1981, the foundation stone of the new college building was laid and within a year, the college was shifted to the new premises. The two decades that followed witnessed the success saga of the college.
Today Kuriakose Gregorios College - K G College Kottayam has acquired fame and name as one of the best colleges under the Mahatma Gandhi University. The primary aim of the college, at the time of its inception was to perpetuate the sacred memory of Kuriakose Mar Gregorios (Pampady Thirumeni), the saintly Metropolitan of the Kottayam Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Church.

Kuriakose Gregorios College - K G College Kottayam has a spacious, well furnished auditorium for conducting general meetings and other programmes. It covers an area of 12865sq.ft. It is equipped with modern facilities like LCD, computer and audio system .There are separate green rooms for male and female for pre-programme preparations. Separate toilet facilities are also available. The college has a good playground with all facilities.
A canteen having an area of 2002 sq. ft operates on Kuriakose Gregorios College - K G College Kottayam campus for staff and students. Special enclosures are given to staff and students to have their meals. The ground floor of the canteen is provided as accommodation for the proprietor.
Kuriakose Gregorios College - K G College Kottayam has one NCC Company which is functioning under 16 KER Bn NCC Kottayam as 7th Company with cadet strength of 160.Enrolment is available for boys & girls. The NCC inculcates discipline and patriotism in the youth. Physical training, weapon training, map reading etc- is part of NCC activities. Regular parades are held on Saturdays. The college has at present two NSS units. NSS is intended to spread feelings of national integration, Gandhian principles and boost work culture and group dynamics. NSS is also a cradle for leadership training.
