National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology-NCHMCT (Society) was set up in the year 1982 by the Ministry of Tourism for coordinated growth and development of hospitality management education in the country. The Council regulates academics in the field of hospitality Education and Training that is imparted at the twenty four Government sponsored Institutes of Hotel Management and seven Food Craft Institutes that function in different parts of the country. Through the Council, these institutes offer twelve different professional programmes leading to award of Certificate, Diploma, Post Graduate Diploma, Bachelor and Master Degree, (the last two programmes are conducted in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Open University).
National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology-NCHMCT and its affiliated Institutes constantly endeavor to impart Hospitality, knowledge, skills, concepts and techniques in the right environment for the students to learn and emerge as global Hospitality Service providers.
National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology-NCHMCT is an autonomous body under Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. The Council centrally regulates academics for hospitality and hotel administration and other eleven structured courses of studies that are imparted at the existing 24 Institutes of Hotel Management and 7 Food Craft Institutes located in different parts of the country. All Institutes uniformly follow standardized course curricula prescribed by the Council for the twelve different professional programmes.
Quality of education and training provided by the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology-NCHMCT helps student to emerge as professionally qualified personnel for hospitality and other allied service sectors. The Council has till date trained more than 30,000 Hospitality Managers, Executives and other operational personnel. Its alumni occupy key positions in hospitality industry and in academic institutions in India and abroad.
National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology-NCHMCT has instituted Merit Scholarships Scheme with the help of Industry for meritorious students who obtain Ist, IInd and IIIrd position on All India basis in Council’s Annual Examination in the Ist year, IInd year and IIIrd year of the course i.e. after completion of both the Semester of the respective year.
The Bachelor of Science programme in Hospitality and Hotel Administration is offered jointly by the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology-NCHMCT and the Indira Gandhi National Open University. The Three-Year programme equips students with all the required skills, knowledge and attitude to efficiently discharge supervisory responsibilities in the Hospitality sector. The programme also involves in-depth laboratory work for students to acquire required knowledge and skills standards in the operational areas of Food Production, Food and Beverage Service, Front Office Operation and House Keeping. The programme imparts substantial management inputs in area such as Sales and Marketing, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Hotel and Catering Law, Property Management, Entrepreneurship Development, Computers with special focus on Tourism Studies.
All qualified candidates will have to submit a physical fitness certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format given in this Brochure at the time of admission.
Aims and objectives of the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology-NCHMCT and its role as the apex formation in the country to ensure co-ordinated growth and development of hospitality manpower education through its affiliated Institutes are elaborated in its Memorandum of Association which, among other things, mandates the Council to effectively discharge functions such as: Formulate, guide and coordinate various types of studies, knowledge and research inclusive of Graduate and Post Graduate studies in the field of Food Management, Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition and allied skills and crafts; Affiliate institutions concerned with the subject and prescribe courses of study and instructions leading to examinations conducted by it.
